Black, indicates the undefined energy; Spring, is the birth of life that carries emotional waves.
Like an unbound story book, this is a narrative oracle deck following the journey of the Atomic Girl as she moves from being an object of consumption toward self-awareness. Blending mythology and symbolic imagery, the work explores how emotions shape perception and invites viewers to reflect on the power of gaze, transformation, and inner exploration.
The 21 major cards trace the heroine’s journey, while another 21 minor cards as the supporting elements of the pictorial story.
Black Spring Oracle
A tale of a little girl who, by consoling her shadow, breaks free from constraints and rises beyond them.
This series started as gouache paintings and then transformed into lightbox installations for its first showcase in Taipei in 2021. Later, mosswater expanded the series into a deck of oracle cards. Tarot was a major source of inspiration for this body of work, thus this pivot felt natural. It seems the paintings were always meant to be shuffled by hands.
