SKIN OFF: 2021 the book

A collection of 28 paintings and 28 stories between human and the animals have affected their lives。

In 2014, I started to paint Skin Off by commission. Between each of the people who came to me and the animals of their choice, there is a story, a fated connection or a spiritual affinity. Some wanted to commemorate their pets; some used wild animals to manifest their spirit; some people are simply moved by the beauty of animals. I used paintbrush to record the feelings between the people and the animals, and then used words to express the imagination that these feelings brought to me. In the beginning, my Skin Off painting was a display of my confusion and helplessness as a human being entrusted to the symbolism of animals. but over time the process gave me the motivation and hope I was lacking. 

After putting down the stories, this collection feel completed and wholesome now. What an adventure I have come through since 2014. I’ve learned so much from each person who came to me for a commissioned painting, about their relationships with the animals and how the animals have impacted their world-views. I owe to this Skin-offers some much. Thank you all for being part of this therapeutic journey.
